Memorial Day NECA News

NECA updated their blog on myspace last weekend with some upcoming shipping dates as well as answers to their fans questions about upcoming plans for the rest of 2006 and 2007. Along with everything else, they say that the first series of the Pirates of the Carribean Dead Man’s Chest figures are arriving at retail now. Another thing I am personally excited about is the Kurt Cobain 7″ figure which should also be shipping this month.

But I think the coolest thing they announce here is that they have aquired the license for “V” for Vendetta and a 1/6 scale resin statue is coming and a poseable 7″ action figure. I know a lot of fans including myself loved the movie and will be very excited about this news. Check out the full post from NECA on myspace.

Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise Of The Panther

Toy News International posted new info this week on the sequel to the Ultimate Avengers which was released straight to DVD last year. It is titled Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise Of The Panther. Here is the description from their site:

Earth’s mightest heroes reunite to save humanity once again, Mysterious Wakanda. It lies in the darkest heart of Africa, isolated and unknown to most of the world. Brutal alien invaders are coming, soon to fill every sky and control every land, seeking what is buried beneath its lands. That leaves Wakanda’s young king Black Panther with a single option: The Avengers. Lionsgate’s Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise of the Panther is due on August 8th and arrives with 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 tracks. Extras include “The Ultimate” featurette, a gag reel, “What Avenger Are You?” DVD-ROM feature and first looks at the upcoming “Iron Man” and Dr. Strange” animated features. Retail is $19.99.

I bought the first movie and was really impressed with it. I hope the next one is as good, and I hope Marvel keeps on releasing animated features like this. I think they could really do well in this area.

Superman Returns News

Azog’s recently reported some Superman movie news that I had seen on a few sites this week. It seems that Warner Brothers announced this week that Superman Returns will open on June 28th, 2 days earlier than previously announced. No word on why they did this, but my guess is that they wanted to increase the box office numbers for their opening weekend. That is usually why movie studios release movies on Wednesdays.

In other Superman Returns news, the new trailer which debuted during X-Men 3, is available on the Superman Returns movie site.

Plus, he really seems to like this figure. I am really looking forward to this figure as well, so I hope to find Marvel Legends 13 soon!
