Coruscant Clone Trooper Mini Bust Photo Gallery

Rebelscum has another photo gallery of a Gentle Giant bust that is starting to ship now. This time it’s the AFX exclusive Coruscant Clone Trooper Mini Bust. This bust was limited to 2,500 and exclusive to action figure xpress. The Coruscant clone trooper bust features a removable head sculpt of the Jango Fett/clone likeness. See here for previous coverage of this bust.

The Coruscant Clone has long sold out, so again your best bet will be eBay, where it looks like prices are starting to come down now that this is starting to ship.

Holiday Special Animated Boba Fett Maquette Photo Gallery

During the Comic Con weekend, Rebelscum published a new photo gallery for the Gentle Giant Star Wars Shop Celebration 4 exclusive Holiday Special Animate Boba Fett maquette. This maquette is a repaint of the Animated Boba Fett maquette that was released by Gentle Giant last fall.

The Boba Fett exclusive maquette was limited to 1,000 that were sold only at Celebration IV and Celebration Europe. The only place you can get them now is on eBay where the price ranges from $150 to $190.

Mynock Hunt Chewbacca Mini Bust Exclusive to Diamond

At Toy Fair this year, Gentle Giant showed a variant version of the Chewbacca mini bust wearing a gas mask. Since then, much speculation has been going on about when this will show up and whether or not it will be an exclusive.

Well, details about this bust have leaked out of the San Diego Comic Con and onto the forums. It appears that this bust was shown only at the Diamond Comics booth, which probably means it will be a Diamond Exclusive. This has not been confirmed by Gentle Giant yet, as far as I know.

Here is a picture of the exclusive Gas Mask Chewbacca mini bust from San Diego Comic Con. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger version.

Update: I have more details on this. I don’t think Diamond or GG has officially announced it yet, but it is a Diamond exclusive that is supposed to come out in November and retail for $60. Also, the official name is “Mynock Hunt” Chewbacca, so I changed the name of the post.

Gentle Giant Pirates of the Carribean at Comic Con

Gentle Giant is showing off their line of Animated Pirates of the Carribean maquettes at San Diego Comic Con this year. Among the ones on display are a new Will Turner animated maquette and an unpainted Captain Barbossa animated prototype. Check them all out at the Gentle Giant POTC photo gallery on figures.com.

The Gentle Giant Lounge at Comic Con

Gentle Giant’s convention booth this year reportedly has a lounge built on a second floor above the convention floor. I have not been to any conventions this year so I have not seen it in person, but I have only heard about from other collectors. Well, now we have a picture of the so called lounge, so you can see it for yourselves, courtesy of Galactic Hunter. Click on the thumbnail below for a larger view.

Gentle Giant San Diego Comic Con Exclusives on eBay

Gentle Giant exclusives from San Diego Comic Con are already showing up on eBay in full force. A search for “Commander Cody bust” on eBay reveals 53 results as of this writing. The highest buy it now I see is for $179.00, which is not as bad as many exclusives from the past typically go for. Right now, Commander Cody is not going as high as other exclusives because it has the largest edition size of all the Clone Commander busts at 3500.

Here is a list of all the other Gentle Giant San Diego Comic Con exclusives up for auction on eBay.

Many collectors, myself included, think it is sad to see Gentle Giant putting out so many limited exclusives this year. It seems like collectors would be happier and Gentle Giant would make more money just by making the exclusives a little more available.

The sad thing is if you are interested in these you may want to lock them in now because the prices are liable to go up once the convention is over and they are in hand. On the other hand, prices could go down once they are out and the markets are flooded. It’s always a gamble, so be sure and take that into account when buying.

Gentle Giant Animated Emperor Palpatine Maquette

On display at Comic Con is a new Animated Emperor Palpatine maquette from Gentle Giant. It is an unpainted prototype but it appears they are allowing photography of it. You can see this and more at the Gentle Giant photo gallery Rebelscum just added.

New Gentle Giant Harry Potter on Display in San Diego

Here’s another Gentle Giant gallery from Cool Toy Review, and this time it’s Harry Potter. While I am not collecting the Harry Potter busts, I am really impressed with Gentle Giant’s work here. In the above gallery, you can see the Bellatrix Lestrange and Nymphadora Tonks busts, and they look amazing! Maybe I am a bit biased, because I loved both of these gals in the movie, even though they both had minor roles. But, I have to admit, I love me some Helena Bonham Carter!

Anyway,  Gentle Giant is not showing off any new busts other than those two. They are showing off some new statues, including a new format, and some new bust ups. First, we have a Harry Potter and a Voldemort statue from the Goblet of Fire movie in what closely resembles Sideshow’s Premium Format style. They look to be about the same scale and have cloth clothing as well. Then, we have a Harry Potter on Thestral statue from the Order of the Phoenix. Finally, we have what looks like a set of Death Eater bust ups, which I am not a fan of. (The bust ups, not the Death Eaters. Death Eaters are cool.)

New Lord of the Rings Busts at Comic Con

Finally, I found a photo gallery of Gentle Giant Lord of the Rings stuff on display at Comic Con. While most of it is very cool to finally see in person (on my computer, natch), there is very little new stuff. But, there is an awesome bust of Sauron on display and a Lord of the Rings line of Classics busts. Go to Cool Toy Review to see the gallery.

The Classics busts are similar to the Star Wars Classics busts in that they appear to be smaller in scale and are armless. The busts they are showing are Legolas, Gimli and Eowyn. These retail for $30. While they look nice, they are out of scale with the 6 inch line of busts. I don’t have the dough to collect more than one of these lines, so I will just have to wait until they make larger versions of those characters.

Finally, there is another bust of one of the Orcs, but it appears they aren’t allowing photography of that one. You can see it in one of the CTR photographs here, but they apparently respected Gentle Giant wishes and did not publish any close up photography. I say to hell with Gentle Giants wishes and snap away! They are displaying product in a public place with thousands of people coming through hourly. I think it is mostly because they are unapproved prototypes that they post that. Anyway, as soon as I get some close up photos of the Orc bust, I will post them here. Update: Here is a close up pic of the new Gentle Giant Lord of the Rings Orc Bust up for display at Comic Con. Click on the thumbnail for a larger view.
