This weekend’s box office results are out today, and everyone is talking about how ‘Iron Man’ crushed ‘Speed Racer’ on it’s opening weekend. The question is did ‘Speed Racer’ ever have a chance against ‘Iron Man,’ which some say is the greatest superhero movie ever made? The results speak for themselves. ‘Iron Man’ in its second week made more than double ‘Speed Racer’ in its opening week.
But no it wasn’t a fair fight. ‘Iron Man’ has years of history as one of the Marvel Universe’s greatest heroes. ‘Speed Racer’ was doomed from the start. Although it had potential, the goofy trailers apparently turned kids away, not to mention the adults, who might have taken their kids to see it.
‘Iron Man,’ in effect, drank ‘Speed Racer’s’ milkshake. The real test for ‘Iron Man’ is coming though. How will ‘Iron Man’ stack up against the real competition which is coming this month, with ‘Prince Caspian’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?’ It’s possible that if ‘Iron Man’ doesn’t outperform it’s competition in the next 2 weekends, it could at least do some serious damage. So in the end, Tony Stark might end up drinking everyone’s milkshakes this summer.

Hulk Legends is a series of new Marvel Legends that Hasbro is debuting for 2008. There are 8 figures in all, so far, which are being split up into 2 waves of 4. Wave 1 is due out in August, and Wave 2 is due out in September.
The interesting news is that there is a build a figure which is being split up between the 2 waves. The build a figure is Fin Fang Foom which will be split up into 8 pieces. So collectors will have to wait for both waves, and buy all 8 figures to get Fin Fang Foom. Also, the suggested retail price of the Hulk Legends are $14.99 a piece. So it may be more expensive to get them all, depending on what the price is at retailers like Wal-Mart and Target. Anyway, here they are.
Wave 1 includes the following figures:
King Hulk

Savage She-Hulk

Son Of Hulk

The End Hulk

The second series is set to be released in September 2008 and will include the following figures:
Absorbing Man

Doc Samson

Savage Grey Hulk

Wendigo

Collect them all to build a 15-inch Fing-Fang-Foom figure.

On February 14th, 2008, Sideshow Collectibles announced a deal with Hasbro to produce 12" action figures based on characters from G.I. Joe. As a fan, I am really looking forward to this line. The question is, why hasn’t Sideshow provided any more details on the subject this far along?
According to their press release, the figures are expected to release beginning in 3rd Quarter 2008. If that is still true, you would think Sideshow would have already given us details on what the characters will be and pre-orders.
Another alarming fact about this is the price. The press release mentions the pricing of these figure will start at $79.99. That would make this license Sideshow’s most expensive yet. At that price, many collectors will have to be choosy about what they buy, and even more collectors may stay away. If $79.99 is a base price, I hate to think what Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow will cost.
I am a hardcore G.I. Joe fan, but at those prices, I will probably only get one or two figures. I hope that Sideshow gives us more details soon and doesn’t make us wait until San Diego Comic Con to find out more.

At San Diego Comic Con last year, we saw a preview of the Marvel Legends Icon line that somehow never made it to retail. Here is the list of what was shown.
- Daredevil (Red)
- Daredevil (Yellow)
- Phoenix
- Dark Phoenix
- Colossus
- Nightcrawler
It has been almost a year since these were previewed. Does anyone know what happened to these figures? Are they canceled or we will see them sometime in the future? Here is a gallery of the Marvel Legends Icons that were shown last year at San Diego Comic Con on Marvelous News.

One of the most anticipated movies of 2008 is “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” This movie also has plenty of merchandise that will be available, not the least of which is the line of really sweet toys, Hasbro has planned this year.
May 1st was the official release date for the Indiana Jones figures which means they are just now starting to hit retail. They are also showing up on eBay. As a result, I decided to put together a list of the Indiana Jones figures that are out right now and also the ones that are soon to follow. This checklist is only covering the 3.75” line of basic figures. Enjoy!
Indiana Jones Wave 1 - Raiders of the Lost Ark
Marion Ravenwood: Marion was initially rescued from Nazi operatives as recruited by Indiana Jones as a surrogate for Marion’s father, Abner Ravenwood.

Cairo Indiana Jones: Indiana and Marion Ravenwood journey to Cairo in an attempt to prevent the Nazis from excavating the Ark of the Covenant.

Cairo Swordsman: During the Cairo bazaar sequence—throughout which Indiana Jones is pitted against various Nazis and hired thugs—the Swordsman confronts Jones abruptly.

Belloq: A near perfect translation of arrogant pomposity, this is the way the slimy and underhanded Belloq appeared during the scene in which the Ark of the Covenant is opened.

Monkey Man with Monkey: Monkey Man was a thug sent to assassinate Indiana and Sallah, though unfortunately the poor monkey suffered the brunt of the attempt, eating one of the poisoned dates and inadvertently warning Sallah of the danger.

Indiana Jones (Temple): This figure recreates the Peruvian jungle sequence in which Jones infiltrates an ancient temple.

Sallah: A renowned excavator, Sallah befriended India Jones and Marion Ravenwood upon their arrival in Cairo.

German Soldier: The German Soldier is one of a small army rallied for the task of obtaining the Ark of the Covenant, thereby transforming the Nazi forces into an invincible army.

Here is a list of each one along with an image.
