Gentle Giant exclusives from San Diego Comic Con are already showing up on eBay in full force. A search for “Commander Cody bust” on eBay reveals 53 results as of this writing. The highest buy it now I see is for $179.00, which is not as bad as many exclusives from the past typically go for. Right now, Commander Cody is not going as high as other exclusives because it has the largest edition size of all the Clone Commander busts at 3500.
Here is a list of all the other Gentle Giant San Diego Comic Con exclusives up for auction on eBay.
Many collectors, myself included, think it is sad to see Gentle Giant putting out so many limited exclusives this year. It seems like collectors would be happier and Gentle Giant would make more money just by making the exclusives a little more available.
The sad thing is if you are interested in these you may want to lock them in now because the prices are liable to go up once the convention is over and they are in hand. On the other hand, prices could go down once they are out and the markets are flooded. It’s always a gamble, so be sure and take that into account when buying.

For those of you that purchased the exclusive Gentle Giant Star Wars Coruscant Clone Trooper Mini Bust, start watching for the delivery guy because they are starting to ship. Rebelscum forum members are reporting that they are seeing credit card charges and receiving shipping notices. I myself have seen charges on my credit card, but have not received any shipping notifications. The Coruscant Clone Trooper bust was exclusive to Action Figure Xpress. The busts are now sold out.
If you want to see more proof they are shipping, they are showing up on eBay in greater numbers. As usual, prices are going up on this one. Current buy it now’s are between $120 and $185.
The Coruscant Trooper bust is limited to 2,500 and is the first clone bust to feature the Jango Fett removable head sculpt. These may be getting high prices on eBay now, but when they were up for order, it took quite awhile for them to sell out. If you want a shot at one of these, you may want to wait a few weeks until these have all shipped out. The market will be flooded for awhile, and you are more likely to get a better price.

Gentle Giant went overboard with exclusives this year big time. The exclusives are an issue for many fans, and this year has caused a huge backlash agaisnt Gentle Giant from the fans, like never before. So what does Gentle Giant have in store for next year? It looks like there will be less exclusives.
Gentle Giant has officially said that there will be fewer exclusives planned in 2008. This was said on the Gentle Giant blog in the comments before they took them down. Here is the exact quote from Gentle Giant employee, Amanda Burns.
On May 09, 2007 12:14 PM, Amanda Burns said…
Actually we already have it planned to have less exclusives next year.
Since they had 20 21 exclusives so far in 2007, less in 2008 could mean 19 or 20. But, I want this on record, so that if they break their promise, everyone will be able to see it.

Here are some great photo galleries from mintinbox.net of the Gentle Giant World Tour event at the Forbidden Planet store Thursday, July 12th. There are very good pictures of new Gentle Giant product that has not been shown publicly yet, including Royal Guard busts, Admiral Ackbar and more. Also, be sure to check out the photos of all the exclusives, and lots of candid shots of the fans buying them. Lastly, they have an interview with Karl Meyer of Gentle Giant. The site is in French so you may need a translator. I found the Google Toolbar has translator function that does an okay job. Enjoy!

The Mace Windu Clone Wars maquette exclusive went up for sale yesterday afternoon on StarWarsShop.com
for Hyperspace members only. The maquette was limited to 1,000 and was so hot it sold out in only a few hours. It was advertised as being the final maquette in the Clone Wars line.
Now Mace Windu is on eBay and is already rocketing in price. The SRP of the maquettes is normally $80, and that is what Mace sold for. On eBay as of this writing, starting prices are all already at $200 and buy it now’s are at $250.
The Mace Windu maquette is scheduled to ship on July 31. You may want to wait until this maquette is in collectors hands before you buy. The price could come down by then, but on the other hand, it could always go up. We’ll keep watching it and see what happens.

A new version of the Gentle Giant Harry Potter 5th Year mini bust has been discovered, and it is exclusive to Suncoast/FYE stores. This version is the same as the original version that was just released a month or two ago, except it comes with a light up feature. According to Voldemort’s Vault, the bust is limited to only 1,000 pieces and is more expensive than the average bust at $59.99. Click on the link above for more details including images of Harry and the light up feature.

The rumor going around is that the Mace Windu Clone Wars maquette will be exclusive to StarWarsShop.com
and limited to 1,000. Supposedly, this info was published in the latest Star Wars Insider magazine. The maquette is supposed to be released at the end of this month. I will post it here as soon as it goes up for sale.
Update: from starwars.com, the Mace Windu Clone Wars maquette will go up for sale to Hyperspace members at StarWarsShop.com
this Friday afternoon (PST), July 20th. It will be on sale until Monday morning (PST) when any remaining quantity will be made available to the public. Mace Windu is limited to 1,000 and one per person. It is scheduled to ship on July 31st.
At 1,000, Mace will not be around long. If you are interested and are not a fan club member, you can sign up now and still order on Friday. It is only $14.95 to join for one year, and the club itself is worth the benefits you get for joining. Plus, you get to buy the exclusive, and if you really want it, I wouldn’t count on it being available the entire three days.
Update - 7/20/07 4:29 PM ET: The Mace Windu Clone Wars maquette is now available for order for Hyperspace members only.
Update - 7/23/07 9:42 PM ET: The Mace Windu Clone Wars maquette sold out within a few hours on Friday. However, apparently many people ordered more than one, so SWS was auditing orders all weekend and throwing out any duplicate orders. As a result, Mace Windu was still available on Monday. But, SWS promised that it would be available to the general public on Monday and this was not the case, as of Monday afternoon. Some rebelscum members though reported that it was available for a few minutes to everyone. If it was, it didn’t last long, and it is no longer available on the site. I do think that it is very poor that StarWarsShop did not live up to their promise.

Yesterday, I posted about the Gentle Giant San Diego Comic Con exclusives that are on eBay. I also asked the question whether or not the prices will go up once they are in hand. Looking at the current eBay auctions for the other clone commander busts, you might conclude the price will go up. Let’s examine the Clone Commander busts that have been released so far this year.
The Commander Bly bust was just released on Thursday of last week and the average buy it now price on eBay is close to $300. That is more around the price that I was expecting these busts to be going for once they hit release. Of course, Bly could be going for more because he was only released overseas. The edition size for Bly is 2000.
Looking at auctions for Commander Neyo on eBay, we see the same thing. Buy it now prices on Neyo are pushing $300 and up. Neyo was also an overseas only release though and has the smallest release number of all the exclusive Commander busts at 1500.
The Commander Gree bust has been out since the end of May and prices on eBay are now much lower. Gree was an exclusive at Star Wars Celebration IV with an edition size of 2500. Looking at completed auctions though, recent auctions have ended closer to $200 so prices are still high. This shows though that prices may come down on some of these over time, but again Gree was a domestic exclusive.
If you are shopping for these, remember that the Commander Neyo bust has already been raffled by Gentle Giant and the Commander Bly bust has not. So before you get Bly on eBay, you might want to try your hand at the raffle if you are a Premiere Guild member or wait until after the raffles when more will be available on eBay which might cause the price to come down. Also remember, that 500 of all five of the Clone Commander busts will be up for auction come November.
